As we wander around the places we live there are often public artworks that are put up to surprise, challenge, intrigue, entertain, or even disturb, us. If we've lived in a place for any length of time they might become almost invisible to us, but if we allow ourselves to pay attention to the art, find out why it might be there, take time to consider it, who made it, and think about its meaning then we can nourish heart and mind whilst out for, quite possibly the most mundane of reasons. And though these pictures are all sculptures, when we open our eyes, ears, hearts and minds all kinds of public art - murals, graffiti art, buskers, performers - can ambush us in the best possible way.
