Barbara Brown Taylor's Learning to Walk in the Dark is a book which challenges our misconceptions over light and darkness, which are often overlayed with moral messages that light is good and darkness bad – this book gives us alternative ways of thinking beyond such an unhelpful binary.
We will be meeting to discuss this book on Wednesdays at 12.30pm and will be sharing in a soup lunch together in the parish house. There will be another opportunity to discuss on zoom on Thursday evenings, email Alastair (our Incumbent) for details.
In week one we will be reading and discusssing the Introductoin and first three chapters.
In week two chapters 4 through 6
In week three we will finish up the book with chapters 7 through 9 and the Epilogue.
It is available via local booksellers, online, and we have ordered some from Christian books and music here in Victoria for $20, available in the office (if you would like a complimentary copy please let the Incumbent, Alastair, know. Even if you are unable to attend the discussions I highly recommend this for Advent reading.
