When Jesus led Peter, James and John on a long hike up a high mountain, they had no idea what they would encounter along the way. Pausing at some point on the climb, Jesus appears "transfigured" before them -- changed, brighter, dazzling -- accompanied by two former leaders who know what it is to climb steep mountains: Moses and Elijah. When we face challenges and climb mountains in our own lives (literal or metaphorical), we are assured that Christ climbs with us, and will give us a glimpse of God to encourage us along the way. In the words of the poet-theologian Bob Marley, "You never know how strong you are, until being strong is your only choice."
