Paul teaches us that it is not enough to know about Jesus, we need to know - and love - Jesus.  It is in this loving relationship that our lives are transformed. Our Gospel tells the story of Mary, the brother of Lazarus, and how she anoints the feet of Jesus with perfume.  This loving action fills the house with the scent of the perfume.  That perfumed scent is a good metaphor for God's presence in our lives.  It is both unseen and enriching.  Love is that way: as perfume transforms the air, love transforms our lives.
