This morning, we consider the well-known miracle of Jesus turning water into wine at a wedding feast in Cana. On the surface, it's a lesson about Christ meeting us in times of need, providing for what we lack. However, if we look closely at the rich, dense symbols in John's Gospel, we might discover here a broader menu -- or blueprint -- for personal and community transformation. The ingredients? -- encountering the sacred in the ordinary, recognizing abundance, openness to wisdom from the margins, all folded together under the shelter of a faithful, hopeful, long-term covenant.
