A gathering for a movie and conversation. All are welcome.
Movie for February 28, 2019
(Rescheduled from February 13th)
Big Eden (U.S.A., 2000, 117 minutes)
We have chosen something light, before we get into Lent, and because it is the day before St Valentine's Day it had to be a love story - in this case, a quirky, gay love story, which also reflects on the value of community, and how easy it is to be so focused on something that we can't see anything else, no matter how obvious. As one character in the film observes, "There's so few nice surprises in life. Seems to me that it'd be kind of a shame to squander one of them, don't ya think?"
Come and enjoy this charming and thoughtful surprise of a movie with us.
Some notes regarding past and future Reel Thought presentations:
January's presentation, Human Flow, is available for loan on DVD from John McLaren, if you were unable to attend or would like to see the second half of the movie.
Once again we plan to show movies each week during Lent, beginning on March 13th, the Wednesday after Ash Wednesday, and ending on April 10th, the Wednesday before Holy Week. Please feel free to offer suggestions as to what we might present during Lent. So far we have selected movies with an indigenous theme in common. Thank you!
You can contact Mark & Darryl using the form below.
There will be no Reel Thought on the third Wednesday of April, April 17th, as it falls in Holy Week.
Can't remember the name of the movie you previously enjoyed? Check out the list here.
