This year we are studying the book 'After Jesus, Before Christianity' which deals with the life of the various 'Jesus Movements' in the first two hundred years after Jesus life. In this time, before 'Churches', or Doctrine, Creeds, or what we now consider 'Scriptures' the diversity of these movements, and their response to the contexts of the time, may offer us ways of thinking how we might respond to the diversity both within Christian movements today, and our wider society.

This in-person discussion of the book will follow the same format as the Zoom meeting on Mondays, and comes with a soup lunch - please let Carol Ann know if you hope to attend.

A few copies of the book may be available at the Church office, otherwise they can be ordered at local bookstores or via Amazon or Indigo  or Cokesbury online.

We will discuss particular sections on different weeks during Lent - so here is the 'reading scheme'

Week 1 - Foreword through Chapter 2 'If not Christian, What?

Week 2 - Part I Living With Empire

Week 3 - Part II Belonging and Community

Week 4 - Part III Real Variety, Fictional Unity

Week 5 - Part IV Falling Into Writing

There is also a discussion group video with the three authors and Tripp Fuller and Diana Butler Bass which you can watch below:
