At the Nov 1 Evensong with Commemoration of the Departed, we remember those whom we love but see no longer, especially those who have gone on to be ‘numbered with the saints’ in this past year. While the names of the departed are read aloud, we have the opportunity to light candles in their memory.
If you have someone you would like remembered at this service through the reading of their name aloud, you can let the church office know (admin@stjohnthedivine.bc.ca).
Names can also be written down at the service itself, to be offered silently during the lighting of candles and singing.
Music sung by the Choristers of St John will include the Magnficat and Nunc Dimittis as set by Sarah Rimkus, Stephanie Martin's setting of the Kontakion, and Herbert Murrill's 'The Souls of the Righteous'
