We want to see Jesus

They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him, ‘Sir, we wish to see Jesus.’   John 12:21

As Lent begins, what image of Jesus do we hold? What do we want to see?

Are we seeking a Christ who makes us comfortable or a Christ who challenges our stereotypes, makes us think again, makes us feel again?  

Is the image of a crucified Christ who suffers with those who suffer too much for us, is it offensive, is it liberating?
