SoulSpace
...a place to gather in community
...a place to practice
...a place to encounter the Divine

Hosted by Ruth, our Family and Formation Minstry Coordinator, and Cornelia, our Artist Advocate, our quarterly retreat mornings have become on of my favourite things. When we recently gathered for our Lenten retreat, we were invited to slow down, to breathe deeply.

We practiced Visio Divina, a contemplative practice where an image becomes the focal point for meditation.

We learned about how meditative creative practices help our nervous system and our brains rest, recover and build resilience when the world is noisy and life is stressful.

Then we created ... slowly ... intentionally ... each working on our own creative expression, sometimes in silence, sometimes sharing stories or encouragement. We stitched. We coloured. We encountered ourselves, each other, and the Divine.

We prayed together. We shared a meal together.

We practiced together, gave ourselves permission to encounter the Divine in ways me might not have considered before, and went our separate ways encouraged by the moments of joy, flow and community we have experienced together.

More photos to come of the day.
