Loving God, I know the night is not dark with you.
You are here in my shadows, where most of me lives.
In my darkness the things I fear most come to view,
With so much that I’ve lost, though I’d so much to give.
How much more can I risk, though my conscience compels?
So I stay here invisible, noticed by you.
Here with you, loving God: comfort nothing dispels.
How I long to emerge, take my place in the sun,
To belong with your people, your purpose, your earth.
I’ve climbed mountains, yet failed, and what’s done has been done,
But you fashioned my soul, know my value, my worth.
Your bright morning star illumines all I can see,
Spirit lighting my path, God with Us, Three in One.
By your light I will surface: for you are with me.
