As you may have read, we voted at Special Vestry on Sunday 28th September to submit comments to the Marriage Commission giving a shared voice to our desire to make the Marriage Canon of the Anglican Church of Canada inclusive of Same Gender Couples. Here is what we have sent, with the support of the parish.
Below is a Statement to the Media and also the text of a letter put together by a Colleague in a neighbouring Parish and which I and a number of Clergy, laity and faith group members have signed and endorsed. It relates to Bill C-36 currently going through committee stage in the Canadian Parliament. It’s a bill that will re-criminalize prostitution, and threatens to exclude and effectively de-humanize sex workers by making them invisible, driving them underground. Though it claims to be ‘protection of sex workers’ it is anything but.
