The Exploring Faith and Spirituality team was formed in late 2014 to address needs within the St. John the Divine adult community for educational and spirituality programming. We are a diverse group, with a broad range in ages and backgrounds, but a common interest in learning and faith development. We have offered three quiet times for those who want to mark the liturgical seasons with extended times of quiet and meditation as well the opportunity for sharing. We have just completed a four week Lenten series on an array of Christian spiritual traditions, and are about to host a three week series on the spiritual and theological underpinnings of our social justice imperative as a parish and as individuals. By the fall of 2015 we hope to have guest speakers and other programming to appeal to the wide range of interests within St. John’s. We also hope to support existing study groups, and to help ensure that programming is coordinated, with something for everyone from a movie night discussion group, to Bible study, and opportunities to learn new spiritual practices. In addition we are reviewing our library holdings, with a view to adding more books.
Please be in touch if you have other suggestions for us!
Team members are Atley Jonas, Sarah Irons, Murray Luft, Doug Mitchell and Judy Vestrup. (Logged in members of the parish can click on the names to contact these people. Everyone else should call the office or use a phone book.)
