The person wearing a black robe at our worship services is the volunteer verger.  The verger is found at the back of the church, or in the basement or the church house or the garden. The verger’s role is to perform the many tasks related to the preparation of the church for worship: unlock doors; adjust heat, lighting and sound systems; maintain hearing aids; put up numbers of hymns on the hymn board; ring the bell, carry out security checks.

There is a roster for taking turns acting as the verger.

For further information, or to volunteer, contact Chuck Neilson in the church office (250-383-7169) or at home (250-380-7350).
