Lay Eucharistic Ministers (sometimes known as LEMs) are small groups of parishioners who have been chosen to support the clergy by assisting with distributing the bread or the wine during the Eucharist.
It is a great honour to be a Lay Eucharistic Minister because one becomes part of the central aspect of Anglican worship - Holy Communion - as one serves the members of the body of Christ in this way.
