On the Attack on the Quebec City Mosque

Monday January 30, 2017

Dear Friends,

Yesterday we were blessed to gather together in prayer and to spend time in conversation with the Imam of Masjid Al-Iman, the mosque just a few blocks away on Quadra Street. Yesterday evening while devout Muslims gathered to pray in a mosque in Quebec City, their prayers were shattered by gunfire that left six people dead, many others injured, and a community and nation shocked and horrified.

This morning, I contacted Sheikh Ismail Nur, the Imam at Masjid Al-Iman, to send our thanks for his presence yesterday and to offer assurances of our continued support and solidarity in light of last evening’s events. Tomorrow morning there will be a vigil to honour the victims of the Quebec City mosque shooting and to demonstrate our support for the local Muslim community. If you are able, please consider attending.

When: January 31, 2017 at 11 a.m.
Where: Victoria City Hall Flag Pole

Please keep our Muslim brothers and sisters in your prayers and continue to pray for peace in our country and in our world.
