Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. John 14.27
When we gather around the word at the Eucharist, we are offered a place of beloning, a place of comfort; a place where the Holy Spirit comes to be with us and the presence of God reaches out to us. There is a consistency to the word of Scripture that goes beyond our current circumstance to offer us grace, hope, love, and peace. We are encouraged to allow the word to dwell in us, to breathe in us - inspire - to abide with us. In allowing ourselves to be open to the words of our Bibles and to seek the whisper of the Spirit we encounter the deep, deep love of God as revealed through these ancient words, as shared by those who knew God with them through and in all things.
In recognising the wind of the Spirit in our Scriptures we are encouraged to breathe deep, and allow the peace of Christ into our hearts.
