Church
School
Church School takes
place on Sundays during the 10:00 Service. We use the Akaloo curriculum,
and usually meet as three separate classes. We enjoy a variety of
activities, crafts, songs and games.
There are several opportunities throughout
the year for children to participate in additional events and special
family services. These may include Advent, the Christmas Pageant,
Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Easter and Pentecost.
The Church School year concludes in June with
the Parish Picnic at Beacon Hill Park.
Plan B
Plan B is a program for youth aged
11 years and older. We meet every Monday 6:30-8:30.
This is an eclectic group of
energetic youth who have a passion to understand social issues both
locally and abroad.
The one thing that stands out
for this group at the end of each year and the thing they want to
do every year is cooking for the ‘Out
of the rain’ youth
shelter which St Johns hosts Monday evening between the months
of November and October.
Plan B also plans a pilgrimage to
a sacred Christian site every 2years. The next pilgrimage will be
taking place in the summer 2010. Fundraising activities have already
started one of the initiatives this time is bottle returns from
a local condominium complex. Being aware that this is how many people
in the city get money to live the youth have decided to use some
of the money raised to support a local organization.
Something Else
Something Else is a program for older
teens and twenty-something crowd. It is a self guided group, with
members planning session’s activities and events for the group
whilst reaching out to other youth in the diocese their age. We
meet every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month 7-9pm.
