Web Site Policy

By popular demand, here is the policy on privacy, security and web site content.

No one's name shall appear on the web site without that person's permission. No one's contact information shall appear on the web site except for staff. Staff names will appear on the web site along with contact information, but the contact information will be the St. John's address, phone number and email.

Files, documents, and other submitted information will be classified by availability. Currently there are four levels of availability: public, parish, group, maintenance.

Public pages are available to the general public. No password is required to view public pages. Example of these are the front page of the web site and any page you can click to from there.

Parish pages are those pages accessible to the general parish using the username and password that is well known around St. John's. This name and password may be given out by the church office, the web master, or any one in the parish to any other member of the parish. Examples of parish documents are approved minutes of parish council meetings, and vestry reports. Currently all parish documents are stored in a single directory. Please ask the church office, or the webmaster for the name and password. You must be known by the person you ask.

Group pages are those pages only accessible to members of a group. Groups with such pages currently include Parish Council, Emergency Food Services, and the Choristers. (Some of these groups also have public pages.) The group pages are only accessible to members of that group using a group name and password. Examples of such pages are membership lists, unapproved minutes of meetings, and documents still being edited.

Maintenance pages are only accessible to the few people who add, remove, and update pages on the web site. Maintenance pages include the web forms used to perform these tasks. Passwords to reach these pages are assigned to individuals only.
