St. John's Refugee Committee

St. John's Refugee Support Committee has been operating for several decades, offering help to refugees from around the world as they arrive in Canada and learn to cope with their new life here.  For the past year St. John's has been sponsoring a family (mother, father & 2 young sons) from Ethiopia.  The family are now living with relatives in Vancouver and are doing well. 

We are awaiting word on the refugee claim of another family from Ethiopia whom we have also agreed to sponsor (the brother, sister-in-law & young nephews of the first family).  While we wait to hear we are raising money to assist another local church who are sponsoring a large family group from the conflict-racked African country of Sierra Leone.
