Verger

The gentleman wearing a black robe at our worship services is the volunteer verger.  He is to be found at the back of the church, or in the basement or the Church house or the garden. His role is to perform the many tasks related to the preparation of the church for worship: he unlocks doors, adjusts heat, lighting and sound systems, maintains hearing aids, puts up numbers of hymns on the hymn board, rings the bell, carries out security checks.

There is a roster of persons who take turns acting as the verger.  For further information, or to volunteer, contact Jim Luke in the church office (383-7169) or at home (598-3445).
