Faith in Action (FIA) is a group of people from many faith communities
in Greater Victoria, who share a concern for the poor and vulnerable
in this province. We meet on the third Tuesday of every month at
5 pm at St. John the Divine Church; everyone is welcome to attend.
At
our meetings, we look for answers to questions such as:
Why is it acceptable for some citizens to live on our streets
and sleep in shelters, rather than in the sanctity and security
of their own homes?
Are food banks the best way to ensure
that poor people have access to healthy food choices?
Why
are front-line agencies over-flowing with people needing
help, especially when the BC economy is performing so well?
How can we take politics out of caring for the vulnerable?
In
order to encourage a more compassionate response in our government
to the problems that poor people experience daily, FIA has
developed strategies and actions designed to create the climate
for change. Please visit our website at www.bcfaithinaction.ca
to learn more about what you can do to make a difference.
Faith in Action is really "love" in action and our challenge
continues to be: can we rediscover a vision of community as one body,
where if one person is suffering, we all suffer? A vision in which
those who have received so much from life, are inspired to share
it with those who have received so little?
