Liturgy Committee
Terms of Reference
Preamble:
The Liturgy committee operates under the Anglican tradition in which
the Bishop, and the clergy, as the Bishop's representatives, have unique
responsibility for worship.
Terms of Reference:
- The committee acts as a forum for discussion of topics related to all aspects
of worship, including:
- Liturgical expressions of the faith
- Liturgical processes
- Liturgical use of space
- Liturgical ceremony
- Liturgical drama
- Liturgical music
- Liturgical art
- Liturgical reading
- Liturgical preaching
- Liturgical administration
- Servers
- Chalice bearers
- Sacristans
- Honorary clergy
- Physical setup
- Bulletins
- The committee is responsible for the education of the Parish Council and
Congregation regarding liturgical matters.
- The committee is responsible for the analysis of existing liturgy and recommendations
to clergy for change where necessary.
- The committee may develop and initiate new liturgical forms of worship.
- The committee should be aware of and communicate with the following existing
committees:
- Chancel guild
- 10:00 Choir committee
- The committee stresses the importance of consultation with the Music Director
in all musical matters.
- The committee will encourage and support Anglican/Lutheran worship cooperative
opportunities and other ecumenical relationships
- The committee will encourage and support interfaith explorations, especially
with Temple Emmanuel synagogue and the Muslim mosque.
