My Spirituality |
Remi J. De Roo
Retired RC Bishop of Victoria |
Just like you, like all humans, I am a spirit enfleshed, yet called to be fully human. My spirituality is rooted in the experience of God's love, sustaining me, calling me to engage in a conversation with the divine, struggling for justice, growing more fully into the divine image and likeness.
A farm boy who was privileged to participate as a Bishop in the historic Second Vatican Council in Rome, where his spirituality took wings and developed a global dimension which he now happily shares with other believers. |

More Than Meets the Eye: Growing Spiritual Vision |
Christopher Page
priest and author |
Jesus challenged his followers asking them to consider, "Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?" My spiritual journey has been a slow process of moving towards an increasing awareness of this "more than" dimension of life. To make this journey it has been necessary to let go of a few things along the way. Letting go is never easy, but this practice of surrender continues to open new space in my being.
The Venerable Christopher Page is the Rector of St. Philip Anglican Church and author most recently of Shadow Dancing: Living with the Dark Side.. |

My Spirituality - Keeping Faith in a Cynical World |
John Ducker
Deputy Chief in charge of Operations for Victoria PD |
Cynicism in our mass society is a distrust toward ethical and social values. It is caused by the high expectations society’s institutions and authorities being unfulfilled. Cynicism grows as a result of frustration, disillusionment, and distrust perceived created by organizations, authorities and other aspects of society. To work through this condition, my faith has taught me that: “The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God”.

My Spirituality |
Robert A. Daum
Director, Iona Pacific Inter-Religious Centre
Associate Professor of Rabbinic Literature & Jewish Thought Vancouver School of Theology |
My spirituality is embedded in relationships with people, planet, sacred texts, and the ineffable glimpsed in all three. It is rooted in a dialogical, constructive, life-affirming response to the incommensurable gift of being itself, inspired and challenged by texts containing many centuries of Jewish learning, companioned by the collective wisdom of humankind, and nurtured by God's world and all that it contains.
Robert Daum, who inaugurated the Diamond Chair in Jewish Law & Ethics at UBC, earned a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Studies at U. C. Berkeley, a Rabbinic degree and M.A. in Hebrew Literature at HUC-JIR (Jerusalem and New York), a B.A. in Political Science at Tufts University in Massachusetts, and has been a Jewish educator for nearly 30 years. |
