"Eucharist" derives from the Greek "Thank-you", and often implies that the style of the service is one in which the whole congregation is together giving thanks for Christ's love for us, and participating in that.
"Communion" tends to imply a service in which the
emphasis is on each individual's private experience of Christ's love.
