Chalice Bearers
The Chalice
Bearers at the 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. services are small groups of
parishioners who have been chosen to support the clergy in this
particular way. Clergy and sacristans present a list of names to
the bishop who, upon review, licenses these parishioners to become
part of the central aspect of Anglican worship - Holy Communion
- by distributing the wine to the members of the body of Christ
at the eucharist.
It is a
great honour to be a chalice bearer because one becomes part of
the central aspect of Anglican worship - Holy Communion - as one
respectfully gives the cup of salvation to members of the body
of Christ.
