The Care for Creation group is a number of parishioners concerned about working to reduce our environmental impact and to show leadership in meeting the social justice challenges presented by climate change.
In January 2007 about 25 parishioners formed the Care for Creation committee (C4C). We have:
- Organized a multi-faith gathering of 550 people on the role of faith communities in protecting our climate, and from the Sierra Club of BC about effective individual and community responses;
- Held evening sessions on issues of spirituality, education and action raised by global warming;
- Begun a discussion with an architect/engineer about changes to St John’s building and operations to allow us to reduce our emissions and adapt to the stormy weather that lies ahead.
- We are moving towards a Parish day of reflection /action in late April.
Care for Creation is part of the mandate of financial management, outreach, worship and life at St John’s.
