Brother Clark Berge, SSF (http://www.s-s-f.org/frameset_houses_lpf.htm) gave an insightful overview of the labyrinth during his final evening with us in the early spring. I had not known that this ancient practice is found worldwide. Nor had I realized the similarities with the EMDR theory (Eye Movement therapy pioneered by Frances Shapiro) – until Brother Clark pointed it out.
I had taken to carrying the handout of the Chartres Cathedral labyrinth with me – to trace with a finger of my non-dominant hand – to bring about alignment and balance during the day. As I travel by bus, this draws in a sense of peace in tiny moments of downtime during the business day. I have used it so often that my copy is quite tattered. Need to make another one – and this time, laminate it.
